Pulling Up The Rubber Floor

This section of pictures is in the same batch as the "seats", either on the roll that didn't come out or a roll that is misplaced. I would classify this part as the most difficult part of converting the bus! If anyone has ever been on a commercial bus of any kind and can remember it (school bus, city bus, whatever) you should remember the ridged, rubber runway going down the center isle. You may or may not remember that the floor also has a hard rubber mat that covers the surface of the entire bus. This is what I had to pull up. Using a crowbar and a hammer, and a lot of straining and tearing of muscles, Scott and I pulled this horrible substance off the metal frame of the bus. It wouldn't have been quite so bad if the rubber wasn't stuck to the floor where the metal had rusted! I believe it took us 2 full weekends and 2-3 evenings during the week to get it all removed. We emptied about 10 double-bagged trash bags full of the floor scraps. Fortunately, right at this time, Scott's neighborhood was having their "Spring Cleaning", where the city will pick up anything you leave on the curb. Hopefully, I will find those pictures.
